Although I'm best known now for my children's nature books (specifically the Who Pooped in the Park? series), I began in the computer and electronics world, and I've written several technical books, one of which is used as a textbook in several colleges.

In 2001, I set aside my 20 years of technical and entrepreneurial management and moved to Montana to focus on my writing. My list of publications includes over two dozen books and technical manuals, and hundreds of articles for magazines, newspapers, encyclopedias, and Web sites. I’ve written for a wide variety of publications, from the World Book Encyclopedia to Renaissance magazine, on subjects ranging from cattle to computer hacking.

Currently, my bookstore and tea bar (Red Lodge Books & Tea) keep me pretty busy, but I still have some time for local nonprofits. I have served eight years as Scottish Director of the Festival of Nations (and two years as president) and served on other boards, including the Red Lodge Area Chamber of Commerce, the Beartooth Nature Center, and Beartooth Elks Lodge #534.

I also emcee most Scottish events in the area, including the Yellowstone Scottish Highland Games and our annual Robert Burns supper.
